Goals
QuestMiner was a small hobby and learning project back in 2012. 2 friends are creating a game for fun, inspired by Minecraft and Terraria. A game that could get released and serviced.

My Tasks
Introduction
QuestMiner was a game without much direction. We pretty much just created and put into the game whatever came to mind. Given we were like 14 and 16 years old, we had no idea how to plan out a whole game. I was still learning GameMaker back then, and so the heavy lifting was handled by the other programmer, Leon.
Since we didn't have dedicated tasks, I just implemented whatever I felt like implementing. Add a jetpack? Sure. How about bombs that could break blocks? Uhm, yeah. Well, what about a drill that would just drill into the ground indefinitely… Yeah, why not?
Some time later, another programmer/artist joined the team, Jack. Who created a bunch of pixel art for the game to get rid of our programmer placeholder art at first and later became a fundamental part of the team.
Post Mortem
We created this project when I was still in school and quite young. My programming skills were still pretty bad, but that didn't stop us from creating our 'dream game' back then.
I forgot a lot about this project but still have a couple of fond memories of long, fun sessions. Just sitting in Skype and screensharing GameMaker, designing and implementing features that made more or less sense.
The game was actually quite ambitious looking back at it, and for our age, we made good progress. The game actually had a multiplayer, and I remember joining a lobby with a bunch of people during a playtest back then. Additionally, a website was created, and a server was rented to host multiplayer lobbies.
Eventually we lost interest in the project and chased different goals. Leon got interested in Java, Minecraft servers and modding, as well as website programming. While I kept learning GameMaker and creating more prototypes and games.
Leon and Jack would eventually found their own company and create another revision of QuestMiner back in 2016. The newer version of QuestMiner got abandoned as well.
