Gameplay
Goals
For the very first game of our newly founded company, we wanted to test our mobile game development skills and see how quickly we could make a game and release it. To instantly fill our portfolio. Stacky Glide was supposed to be your typical casual mobile game. Easy inputs and easy to understand, yet still captivating.

My Tasks
Introduction
Stacky was a very small game. And since we were only 2 people, I pretty much made the whole game. I was in charge of creating all the gameplay mechanics, the GUI, the tools, the backend, animations, etc. The only thing I didn't do was build levels and art.
For art, we used art assets by Kenney.
Level Generation & Tools
For Stacky, we didn't want pre-built levels. We wanted randomly generated levels so that the game is basically endless. In order to do so, I created 3 tools that would allow our designer to build a piece of a level on a grid. The generator would then use those islands to create a random level.
That being said, we still had a level editor to create the first few levels by hand. To teach certain mechanics and use special parts that are only there for tutorial purposes.

GUI
And of course I, yet again, had to create the GUI of a game. This time I focused even more on tweening more elements and making everything as easy to understand and fun as possible. I put more time into creating particle-like effects for the UI as well.
Post Mortem
Stacky is a cute little game. We finished the game pretty quickly and earned a few bucks with it. I just like how smooth the game feels, and I am overly happy with the UI.
I didn't learn too much from this project, but it showed me yet again how quickly I can get things done. Though it helped me to try out new things and approaches.
In every project I handle, I manage some systems differently and compare for myself what was easier and more efficient. And this project definitely contributed towards that, especially in regards to UI performance and effects.
All in all, the development of Stacky went very smoothly. And sometimes that's just nice.
